The Isle of Wight Council’s Trading Standards Service makes every effort to ensure that members comply with the law. We cannot guarantee the financial standing of the members nor that their work will never give rise to complaint. But should this be the case, any difficulties will be dealt with fairly.

The Buy with Confidence Scheme is open to any business on the Island.

Any business that has been accepted on the Scheme as been audited by the Trading Standards Service. This means that their business has committed to providing a quality service to their customers.

They agree to comply with the spirit and the letter of both the civil and criminal law relating to their business. This includes laws relating to product and environmental safety, fair trading, consumer credit, prices, animal health and weights and measures.

All businesses have provided details concerning their ownership, staffing, premises and trade activities of the business. They have ensured that all staff are adequately trained for the work they carry out in relation to relevant civil and criminal law and that they are fully aware of the commitments made by the business under this scheme.
